The North Carolina football team leads No. 10 Miami 17-13 at halftime at Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels have had one of their better halves of their season, but mishaps for Miami have helped them accomplish that feat.
Thursday was a historic afternoon for both the North Carolina and Syracuse women’s soccer teams. Not only was the game Syracuse’s first against UNC as a member of the ACC, but it was also the first ever meeting between the two sides. Syracuse, coming off a solid 3-0 win against conference opponent Miami, looked to extend its win streak to two games. However, UNC defeated the Orange 1-0, notching its third straight shutout victory. The Tar Heels got on the board early with a free kick goal from Summer Green in the ninth minute of the game.
Earlier today, Assistant Sports Editor Daniel Wilco and Senior Writer Michael Lananna caught up with ESPN’s Jesse Palmer and Sam Ponder, who will be part of the announcing team broadcasting North Carolina’s matchup with No. 10 Miami.

With the addition of Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame, the Atlantic Coast Conference swelled to 15 schools for the 2013-14 basketball season. Wednesday’s 2013 ACC Operation Basketball was the first ACC experience for the players from those schools, but if there were any nerves about being in an unfamiliar environment, the players did a good job of masking any insecurity.
