Mikey Lopez taken 14th overall in MLS SuperDraft

After two seasons as a midfielder with the North Carolina men’s soccer team, Mikey Lopez was selected by Sporting Kansas City in the first round of Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft. Sporting selected Lopez with the 14th pick making him the tenth Tar Heel to be picked in the first round since 2000. The Mission, Texas, native scored five goals and added five assists in his career at UNC.

The Tar Heels played what might have been their best half of basketball all season en route to dominating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 41-17 in the first half of Sunday’s afternoon matchup.

Hurricane Kadji dominates Tar Heels

It wouldn’t be difficult to name a most valuable player from Miami’s 68-59 win against the North Carolina men’s basketball team Thursday night. Hands down, Kenny Kadji was the best player on the floor. He dropped in a game-high 18 points.

Here’s what the Tar Heels have been up to: Following a disappointing loss to UVa on Sunday, junior guard Reggie Bullock and the UNC men’s basketball team have taken time to regroup before tonight’s game against Miami, Sports Editor Brandon Moree writes. McDonald tweaks knee, misses practice

Just as Roy Williams was about to leave the press table in his Wednesday afternoon press conference, he sat back down to announce that Leslie McDonald had tweaked his knee in practice on Tuesday. Williams said that the junior, who missed much of last season with an ACL injury in his right knee, did not practice Wednesday and his availability for Thursday’s game was unknown. McDonald has played in all 14 games this season and started in one.
