You hear the sniffles. You hear the coughs. You hear the sneezing in the back of the classroom.
Yes, it’s that time of the year again — flu season.
But before you start stocking up on tissues, Campus Health wants you to know that they are here to help.
From Lenoir Hall to the Student Union, clinics will be popping up all around campus to keep students and employees from falling prey to the flu. The clinics, some available by walk-in and others by appointment, will begin Sept. 22 at the Giles Horney Building off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Carol Kozel, director of nursing services, said flu shots will likely be available within the coming weeks.
The flu shot protects against three strains, H1N1 included. Officials said the “Swine of ’09” could be making a comeback this year.
Information on the vaccine, locations and other information about the 2010-11 flu season can be found online.
Sophomore Sarah Velten said she views college as a breeding ground for the flu.
“I am more worried about getting the flu at college because you get less sleep and there are more people,” she said.
Velten added that she hopes as many student receive shots as possible.
“The more people get shots, the less people will get the flu … the less people will be able to get me sick.”
