Just in case you weren’t aware, Twitter is very popular. I personally can’t go 20 minutes without checking it, and there are others who are way more obsessed with it than I am. There are a vast number of UNC students, staff and schools who have accounts, and a lot of them are very fun to follow. Here are some of my favorites.
Barnesbot (@Barnesbot)
I’m going to start off with a classic. As many of you know, the real Harrison Barnes doesn’t have a Twitter account. This is where Barnesbot steps in. The tweets usually commentate on whenever Barnes does something superhuman in games, justifying his actions in mechanical terms. The account really shines during the games, and as soon as anything happens to Barnes during play, I jump to my feed to see if Barnesbot got it.
Blue Steel (@Real_BlueSteel)
When you hear the crowd chanting “Blue Steel” at the end of blowouts, it usually means that the benchwarmers will come in soon. Blue Steel’s account incorporates basketball and self-depreciating humor, and it works really well. Sometimes they use puns; for example, used in this tweet about the South Carolina – Southern California matchup. They usually tweet before games, so check your feed before the Heels suit up.
UNC Problems (@uncproblems_)
As UNC students, we encounter many problems specific to our campus. UNC Problems sums them up into digestible tweets. The account, which was birthed from procrastination, talks about small annoyances UNC students regularly encounter, such as the music outside Memorial Hall, ITS woes and UL complaints. Warning: there will be many times when you will understand and sympathize with these tweets.
