Earlier this month, Mark Zuckerberg promised to devote more attention to Facebook’s mobile app. Does this include mobile hardware as well? Maybe, according to the New York Times Bits blog. They say Facebook recently hired several Apple employees who worked on the hardware and software of the iPhone.
This isn’t the first time rumors have reported Facebook’s interest in making a phone. Two years ago, Bloomberg said that the huge social network was developing a phone with British startup INQ. This was the result. Facebook also allowed HTC to create a dedicated “Facebook button” for the disappointing, lower-end HTC ChaCha/Status last summer.
Whether Facebook does, here’s hoping it goes better than their recent IPO.
