Terrell Brown
Year: Sophomore
Major: Global Studies and Spanish
“Even though I didn’t follow the team as much as a typical UNC student, last year was my first year watching us trample Duke and storm (the court).”
Brown watched the game last year in his friend's dorm. Brown said he felt the Carolina way when he rushed Franklin Street with his friends.
“I definitely loved the spirit. I think it’s an internal type of feeling that you have to feel. “
Yan Ling Lee
Year: Sophomore
Major: Business
Lee went to a viewing party last year and that became her favorite rivalry experience.
“Watching games with random people and the moment we won, we just hugged each other, although we didn’t know each other, and celebrated, and ran to Franklin Street from South campus. That was fun.”
Lee also said she liked the poster hanging in the pit last year.
“It was really creative.”
Amara Jordan
Year: Sophomore
Major: Public Policy
Jordan was a sophomore when UNC beat Duke last year. She walked all the way from Hinton James to rush Franklin street with her friends.
“I ran out of my room without my keys and anything. I had my shoes on but I had very comfortable shoes. But then I ran and my roommate and everyone caught up with me, and we went to Franklin Street.”
Jordan and her friends were in the center of last year’s rush.
“My roommate jumped over the fire. It was really fun,” Jordan said.
Teddy Gonzalez
Year: Junior
Major: Health and Policy Management
Gonzalez’s favorite experience was last year’s win's festivities.
“We had a party basically in the lounge. Everyone went crazy and had a good night.”
Gonzalez’s first UNC-Duke game was in his freshman year when UNC lost at home.
“It was the one we lost by a lot. That one was not that great. But it was still a fun time. It was my first Carolina game,” Gonzalez said.
Jakovin Lee
Year: Graduated in 2014
Major: Research Assistant in Pharmacology
Lee’s favorite rivalry game was in 2011 when UNC won at Duke.
“We had a lot of potential that year. That game was pretty close, but at the end we beat them out. I just remembered it being really memorable. Because I remembered we were supposed to beat them that year, and we did,” Lee said.
Lee watched a few games when he was in high school, but he didn’t really have an opinion at the time.
“Now I am an acute UNC fan,” Lee said.
