On Monday, Jan. 11, the low was about 24 degrees, so naturally, this was the day I chose to stargaze in Kenan Stadium. At approximately 8 p.m., with my reluctant suitemate, I embarked into the winter night dressed for the cold.
It’s worth mentioning that we were not alone in Kenan. For some reason, a couple girls decided that 8 p.m. on FDOC in the middle of January would be the ideal time to run the bleachers. AKA a New Year’s resolution gone too far. Additionally, there was a nice old man walking the bleachers which was weird, but cute, I guess?
Unable to climb the bushes to stargaze on the actual turf, we settled for the bleacher seating, which was freezing, to say the least. We then proceeded to find all the constellations we could!!
- The Big Dipper
- The Little Dipper
- Capricorn
- Aquarius
- Taurus
- Libra
- Sagittarius
- Orion’s Belt ✓
Needless to say, I should have taken Astronomy 101 or actually visited the Planetarium.
