It was sunny, 75 degrees, and I had already been certifiably diagnosed with spring fever. I had a 10-page essay to write, but what better place to write it than on the Quad? In hindsight, the answer is: literally anywhere else.
I picked a spot in the shade under one of our giant trees, and whipped out my laptop. I clicked on Chrome and started researching, when a yawn hit me. Maybe I'll just take a quick nap.
An hour later, I woke up, sweating from the heat. I looked at the time ... only a half hour until my 3:35 class. Well, the essay wasn't getting started today. I set an alarm and fell back to sleep.
Moral of the story: If you think you're going to get serious work done while you're sunbathing on Polk, you're kidding yourself. Also, maybe consider wearing sunscreen? That night I looked like Rudolph.
