What to look forward to in November at UNC

October has come and gone along with the 40,000 Halloween-goers on Franklin Street last night. Now, we secretly wear our costumes when no one’s around and look forward to these things to do in November.


EVENTS ON CAMPUS*

Nov. 3: Graduation applications open

Graduation applications for those eligible for degrees in May 2016 open on ConnectCarolina.

Nov. 3: Spring 2016 registration

Graduate and professional students, or students with eight or more terms in residence, begin registration for spring 2016 on this day.

Nov. 4 – Nov. 13: Spring 2016 registration

Undergraduate students with eight or less terms in residence or non-degree seekers begin registration for spring 2016 on their selected days.

Nov. 5: Campus MovieFest Finale

The top 16 short movies created by your peers will be showcased in this red carpet event in Manning 209 and see which four films are selected to move on to the national event in Hollywood. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Nov. 7: Homecoming, UNC v. Duke**

Warning: bias is in this thread. LET’S GO HEELS! LET’S GO HEELS! LET’S GO HEELS! Ahem. Location is Kenan Memorial Stadium. Time is noon. Attendance is mandatory (or should be).

Nov. 13: UNC Men’s Basketball Veterans Classic

The Tar Heels take on the Temple Owls at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Click here for the full 2015-2016 basketball schedule.

Nov. 13 – 16: Pauper Players presents A Chorus Line!

UNC Pauper Players brings you America's favorite musical, an unprecedented box office hit, at the Historic Playmakers Theatre at 8 p.m.

Nov. 14: Military Appreciation Day

UNC football will play Miami at home. Be on the lookout for possible free T-shirts. ‘Merica.

Nov. 20: Carolina Ukulele Ensemble Fall Concert

A tasteful array of sensual songs by Marvin Gaye, Beyoncé and more. Check it out at the Hanes Art Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Nov. 10 for $4, or at the doors for $5.

Nov. 25 – 27: Thanksgiving Break

Do not report to class. I repeat, do not report to class. Go stuff your face!

Nov. 30: Class resumes

Okay, it’s practically December now. Turn on your holiday jingle playlist to lift your spirits as you prepare for… finals.


EVENTS OFF CAMPUS

Nov. 1: New available selections on Netflix

Including the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, but the series is still not available. Sigh. Find out what else is being added and what’s being expired, or go here to cheat the system.

Nov. 3: Election Day

The U.S. Congress is up for elections, including the Speaker of the House, as well as Chapel Hill and Raleigh’s mayoral races. VOTE!

Nov. 27: Black Friday

Descend into the nation’s real Purge: free-for-all shopping, the day after the day you celebrate your thankfulness for all that you have. Pro-tip: use the tent you bought impulsively during last year’s Black Friday to camp outside your favorite store this year.
