The office can feel more dead than usual after a long weekend, especially if you spent it lounging on the beach. Here are some tips on how to get back into the swing of things.
Don’t listen to any Jimmy Buffett songs
Thinking about Margaritaville while trying to file paperwork may sound nice, but can slow down productivity and motivation.
Cook your favorite dish for dinner
Cooking is productive and has delicious results. Leftovers are great, too. Having a home cooked meal ready in the refrigerator can get you through a long day in air conditioned purgatory.
Make a to-do list
To-do lists are pretty much the solution to all the world’s problems. Okay, maybe not, but they can motivate you to get back into the real world after lounging in a beach chair for three days straight.
Take a walk
If it is not hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk, go out for a walk or leisurely jog through nature. Remember why you came back from vacation (other than for work or school). You like this place. It’s pretty. At least try to tell yourself this.
Don’t fill your gas tank all the way
Without a full tank of gas, you won’t be tempted to ditch work and drive to Disney World.
