Although the snowpocalypse led to the cancellation of the Board of Election's first candidate meeting, prospective student government candidates still met at 4 p.m. Monday to discuss the process.
At the meeting, three students declared candidacy for student body president: John Taylor, Bradley Opere and Wilson Sink.
The next step in the process is petitioning, in which prospective candidates will try to gain enough student signatures to become official candidates. Candidates for president must collect 1,250 signatures by Tuesday, Feb. 2. General elections will take place Feb. 9.
Another candidate meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union. More students may declare presidential candidacy at that meeting, so this list is not final.
