Every Monday for the rest of the semester, students will be gathering at 10:50 a.m. on the steps of the Wilson Library to celebrate what the movement’s founding members are calling “UGGday Monday.”
“We were inspired by last semester’s Jersday Thursday phenomenon” said sophomore Ashley Hertzog. Hertzog said the idea came to her and two of her sorority sisters last semester over dinner at Bandidos. They really hated jerseys but loved UGG boots.
The three friends stood alone together in their UGGs this morning. They even sang, and harmonized, a rendition of “Happy UGGday” to the tune of Happy Birthday.
“We think people will definitely be talking about the event, especially after Hillary hit that high note in that second chorus” said Hertzog.
The movement has received widespread attention already. The movement’s hash #UGGdayMonday really took off with two retweets.
“We’re really expecting a huge turn out next Monday” said Griffin.
