Fewer voters than expected had cast their ballot at the Battle Park precinct’s polls as of 3:00 p.m., officials said.
Lynn Knauff, vice chair of the Battle Park precinct said she was not disappointed with the turnout.
The precinct, which is the second smallest in Orange County, had 105 residents cast their vote for mayor, city council, school board, and the quarter-cent sales tax referendum.
“I think it’s important to be invested in where you live,” said Sarah Stoneking, a resident who voted at the poll. “I think school board and environmental issues are important.”
Brenda Bell, who was working at the poll, said she expects a few more voters to show up later in the day.
“We may have an influx between four and five o’clock of people that are getting off work,” she said.
Mayoral candidate Kevin Wolff appeared at the precinct to speak with poll workers.
“I am just checking the numbers and thanking the poll workers for their efforts,” he said. “They do all the hard work.”
