Daily Tar Heel Staff Writer Meg Garner sat down with Chapel Hill residents "Flav" and Daniel Hepp, who were playing chess outside Asia Cafe, for Town Talk’s weekly Humans of Chapel Hill feature.

When did you start playing chess?
Flav: When I was locked up in prison I learned to play from some of the other guys.
Hepp: I actually learned the same way.
Why did you play there?
Hepp: It was a great way to pass the time.
Flav: It’s also a very relaxing game, so it helped you get by.
What’s your favorite piece?
Flav: The Queen because she has all the power and makes everyone else do what she wants. I like that.
