Gov. Pat McCrory has recently been trying to increase his national profile despite facing political difficulties at home.
Last week, McCrory hosted a Q&A at Facebook’s headquarters and visited Google’s headquarters to promote job creation in North Carolina.
McCrory has been attempting to promote his national political profile. In October, spoke a rally for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s failed campaign for governor.
He also spoke at the conservative Heritage Foundation where he touted his record on education, tax policy and job creation.
McCrory may be trying to repair the image of his state. A poll released September showed North Carolina’s national image has declined.
In addition, North Carolina has faced criticism for its voter law, which McCrory defended an interview last week on MSNBC.
But while McCrory is trying to promote his record nationally, many voters are dissatisfied with his performance. A poll released by Elon University showed approval rating is at 33 percent among registered voters.
McCrory’s most drastic drop been among African American voters. In April, McCrory’s had support among African Americans was at 38 percent.
But Now McCrory only has support from 12 percent of African American voters, 9 points lower than the General Assembly, which has a 21 percent approval among African Americans.
