On Nov. 11, the Town of Chapel Hill hosted the Orange County Veterans Day Celebration to honor veterans who have served in the United States military. The event took place at the Southern Human Services Campus and was free and open to the public.
“Millions have served...they were key and essential to the formation of service forces that enabled the United States of America to defend and protect our citizens and interests,” Retired Master Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, Lee Heavlin, said in an email. “Many never made it home. Maybe that fact bears hard on all veterans and motivates us to get involved, help others and become active in our communities.”
