Hanoch Labowitz of Miami lights the first candle on a giant ice sculpture of a menorah before a large crowd in the Pit on Wednesday evening. Students and community members gathered to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah with members of Chabad of Chapel Hill. Activities included crafts for kids, singing, free food and a live performance by Gmish, a klezmer band.
