UNC Women's Basketball wins with Sylvia Hatchell's game plan

The UNC Women’s Basketball team defeated Carson-Newman 111-50 in the first exhibition game of the 2013-14 season. Associate head coach Andrew Calder said the freshmen played well and the chemistry of the team is strong. Calder is filling in for Sylvia Hatchell, who announced Oct. 14 that she would be taking a temporary leave after being diagnosed with leukemia.

UNC Panhellenic Council hosts "Southern Smash"

On Monday, October 28, UNC’s Panhellenic Council hosted “Southern Smash” in the Pit, giving students the opportunity to smash scales in opposition of weight being of the upmost priority. College Game Day meets Late Night With Roy

UNC Students and fans flocked to the Dean Dome on Friday, October 25 to get their first glimpse at the UNC Men’s Basketball team. The theme of the night was Carolina Gameday, and it was filled with lots of dancing, fat heads and tons of laughter. Check out some of the best moments from the night right here.

Wake Up with Daily Tar Heel | Thrill City

Thrill City is a clothing line that UNC student Ryan Cocca created in 2011. After two years of selling his clothing on his website, Cocca decided to go out on a limb and open a physical store on West Franklin St. Cocca and his business partners, senior Rohan Smith and junior Henry Gargan, opened their store to the public at midnight on Saturday, October 26.

Carolina Boxing straps up for first fight

After nearly two years of planning, the Carolina Boxing club is ready for their first home fight this Saturday. It’s the first ever match of its kind at UNC-Chapel Hill. Boxers will face off in the Great Hall on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

Students set to shoot half-court shot at Late Night with Roy

Two lucky students are set to take on the ultimate challenge on Friday night: taking a half-court shot at the Dean Dome at Late Night with Roy. This comes after a campus-wide scavenger hunt held by Carolina Athletic Association that brought close to 200 students to the steps of the Dean Dome for their chance to win. Tar Heel fans gathered on Franklin Street to enjoy festivities before UNC took on #10 University of Miami. Even though UNC fell to Miami 27-23, the fans would still like to see the town tailgate become a tradition.

Seniors take photo in Kenan Stadium

The 2014 Senior Class Marshals organized the first fall senior photo in Kenan Stadium on September 30, 2013. Even though the vast majority of the 4,000 plus senior class didn’t show up for the photo, club members were still proud of the turnout. Check out some of the shots!

COMM students prepare for "The Uncanny Valley"

A class within the Communication Studies department took the star of their upcoming performance out for a spin where he interacted with students. Their star robot will take center stage on Saturday, October 5 at 8pm in the Black Box Theater in Swain Hall.
