Read More »N.C. Hillel is a group dedicated to enriching the lives of Jewish students. This organization conducts many service projects including Dimes for Darfur, Holocaust Remembrance Week and Habitat for Humanity builds.
It is based in Chapel Hill, but serves universities all across the state. N.C. Hillel is the only statewide Hillel in the country. The office is located on West Cameron Avenue. The Hillel site is also the location for early voting.
N.C. Hillel also hosts events to celebrate several Jewish holidays like Passover. It holds a Seder, or a ritual meal to celebrate Passover, and distributes kosher lunches and dinners to help continue Jewish traditions. The group has also sponsors an Israel festival. Typically held in September, Israel Fest includes numerous activities such as a Jewish a cappella group, name translation into Hebrew and plenty of traditional foods.
