While there was a lot to take away from this weekend from Junkkari’s dominant first two rounds to Smith and Aseguinolaza’s great final days, there is still a lot to work on for the Tar Heels as a program.
UNC is in desperate need to get back in the win column after going winless in its home series against Miami. The Diamond Heels will hope to do so against UNCW on Tuesday as they venture back home to face the Seahawks.
On Friday, UNC’s men’s tennis team (8-5) traveled to Coral Gables, Florida to compete against Miami in a huge road trip for the Tar Heels, as they won 4-0.
On Tuesday, the UNC Men’s Golf team finished up a decent showing in Panama City Beach, FL at the Watersound Invitational, finishing sixth overall.
Against a Louisville team that has little to no chance of participating in the tournament this March, a loss would be detrimental to the Tar Heels’ postseason dreams. North Carolina must play like its season is on the line because it just might be.
This weekend, North Carolina’s track and field team sent its athletes to both Clemson, SC for the Tiger Paw Invite and Lynchburg, VA for the Darius Dixon Invitational. After a successful first day at both events, UNC returned for Day 2 of the action to keep their momentum going.
Although it was a disappointing weekend for head coach Hubert Davis and his team, they will look to bounce back in Clemson, SC as they take on the Tigers this Tuesday. While Clemson’s season has noticeably gone downhill since conference play began, UNC knows better than anyone that there is no team to take lightly in the ACC.
Most preseason rankings had North Carolina well out of the top-25, so accomplishing this success early on after all of the doubt is nothing short of impressive. However, despite its early success, the team has lost three of its last five conference games. With that being said, let's see how some of the individual efforts have impacted the team’s successes this season thus far.
The Tar Heels’ Track and Field team traveled to Blacksburg, VA this weekend to appear in the Hokie Invitational after a tough showing at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
