On Nov. 12, the Graduate and Professional Student Government Senate passed a resolution calling for the immediate dismissal of UNC Police officer Rahsheem Holland, for his conduct toward student protesters.
"Nobody ever cared about students," he said. "It's never something that's ever talked about — half the bills the Senate ever passed were just about giving more power to the Senate."
The documents show a decrease in the number of persons arrested and an increase in the reported use of force in arrests, going from just over 6 percent in 2013 to almost 20 percent last year.
"The things that happened at walkout, the vandalism and some of the messages that were spray painted, give a negative look on Muslims and Arabs — even if they are not done by Muslims or Arabs — because a lot of people can't really differentiate," Mina Bayraktar, the vice president of the Muslim Students Association, said.
When served with a search warrant on Friday morning, in relation to the vandalism done on Sept 19, student activist Laura Saavedra says she was pushed out of her wheelchair by three UNC Police officers.

To comply with the decision, the University changed some aspects of its admissions process, including new essay prompts and tools to consider other aspects of a student's identity, such as a renewed focus on socioeconomic background.
Captain Rahsheem Holland's conduct toward protesters on April 30 — and in protests at a 2021 Board of Trustees meeting — raises concerns about police accountability at UNC.
"As a journalist, I really believe in our work as a medium of education and public service. I think it is our job to think deeply about what our communities need to know and do our best to provide that knowledge."
