Carrboro Prohibits Exotic Animals

The Carrboro Board of Aldermen voted unanimously Tuesday night to prohibit residents from owning any non-domesticated, wild or exotic animals. In Article 10 of the Carrboro ordinances, the term "wild or exotic animal" is defined as, "an animal (other than livestock) that is typically found in a non-domesticated state, and that, because of its size or vicious propensity or because it is poisonous ... poses a potential danger."

Ham's Reopens With New Murals, TVs

After five months, UNC-Chapel Hill students and area residents today will be welcomed back to Ham's, a popular restaurant on Franklin Street. Originally opened in 1984, Ham's was forced to shut its doors May 19 after a kitchen fire left the back of the building destroyed and the front severely damaged by soot. To reopen, the restaurant underwent construction during the summer months that resulted in a total renovation of the building. Ham's remains under corporate ownership of Charlie Erwin.
