Column: Sometimes, “bad” user interfaces are good

"A good interface shouldn't be noticed by the user. There should be consistency in the design of whatever websites or applications in order to offer the user a feeling of control. In the sense that being “good” is to be accessible, open and convenient, this definition is correct, but I feel like it is limited."

Column: Beating the heat on campus poses a challenge

"Picture this: Excited for their first day of college, a naïve, innocent first-year who’s grown accustomed to COVID-19 isolation decides to dress up. They wear a collared shirt and a pair of pants and embark upon their 20-minute walk from South Campus to the FedEx Global Center. Once they get there, they rush to the bathroom only to realize they are drenched in sweat.  "Last year, dear readers, I was that innocent, wide-eyed first-year."

Column: Chapel Hill should be for pedestrians

"In its current state, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area is difficult to navigate by foot and car. And when these modes of transportation intersect, neither is properly managed or advocated for.  But if the balance had to be shifted in the favor of one side, it should be the pedestrians."
