On-campus food trucks accept swipes from UNC meal plans

“It is wonderful to be here and to hear from young people and hear what their concerns and desires are,” Beasely said following the event. "These students truly understand the power of being engaged and truly understand the impact of their vote.”
Junior Charles Blanton founded Carolina Outing Club, an organization that teaches students to love the outdoors. Activities include skiing, kayaking, backpacking, trail-running and even fly-fishing.
Jill Moore is making history as the first woman to be elected as UNC's secretary of the faculty. The UNC Faculty Council voted to elect Moore, associate professor of law and government, on April 16.
Carrying out UNC's LDOC tradition, the Carolina Union plans to host a '90s-themed LDOC celebration on May 5. The celebration will include a mix of virtual and in-person events to round off the semester, including socially distanced yoga and high ropes cap and gown photoshoots for seniors.
Pride Week this year featured a variety of virtual events, including a Pride baking party, an LGBTQ+ book club meeting, Pride wellness hour, Pride Pictionary and a Pride film screening. These events, held by different organizations around campus, are intended to celebrate the LGBTQ community on UNC’s campus and give students a space to connect with each other within the community.
UNC alum Lawrence Ferlinghetti was an esteemed poet, publisher, and owner of the City Lights Bookstore and City Lights Publishing in San Francisco. Ferlinghetti was best known for publishing Beat poet Allen Ginsburg’s infamous poem “Howl" and subsequent arrest on charges of willfully printing indecent writings. He died on Feb. 27 at the age of 101.
Campus community members met virtually for the fourth-annual Honors Carolina Women’s Leadership Forum. At the event, moderated by Gloria Thomas from the Carolina Women's Center, panelists spoke about the powers of pivoting in their lives and careers.
He recently finished writing a book detailing his travels, "A Bigger World," which is scheduled to release in mid-2021.
On Thursday morning, snow greeted students in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic and online classes, students found safe ways to enjoy the winter weather.
