Jed Atkins named director and dean of UNC's School of Civic Life and Leadership

A director and dean of the school is expected to be named soon by Provost Chris Clemens, and the decision must be formally approved by the Board of Trustees.
The committee heard from outgoing Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz and discussed the creation of an ad hoc committee to consider when and how the committee should consider differing views in statements made on behalf of the faculty.
New leaders on campus include faculty chair Beth Moracco, School of Civic Life and Leadership interim dean Sarah Treul Roberts, and dean of the School of Government Aimee Wall.
“If I'm going to step back [from broadcast journalism], how do I spend my time with purpose? I can't think of a better way of doing that, than helping to mold the next generation–if they will allow me to help them in that process,” Santiago said.
The Innovate Carolina Junction had its ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 27. It aims to foster the innovation, community and growth of startups and small businesses in Chapel Hill.
