No. 17 North Carolina lost fell to No. 2 Ohio State 6-1 Sunday night. The loss is the Tar Heels’ most lopsided defeat since a weather-shortened 4-0 loss to Duke in last year’s ACC semifinals.
No. 17 North Carolina had already clinched the match against Navy at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on Friday, but three Tar Heels needed a shortened third set to clinch their singles matches.
Virginia had not been picked to finish fourth or better in the ACC since the 2001-2002 season, when the conference had nine teams. But this year, the No. 4 Cavaliers are pleased with where they sit.
Despite wearing gloves, North Carolina goalkeeper Scott Goodwin might have had trouble keeping his hands warm in the No. 4 Tar Heels’ 2-0 win against Clemson on Friday night at Fetzer Field.
