The Campaign for Carolina fundraiser at UNC intended to raise $4.25 billion between when it launched in 2017 and December 2022. And with the fundraising window set to close in just over a year and half, the campaign is ahead of schedule.
After a competitive, national search, the University announced Knuffman as the new chief financial officer in a campus message on March 12. Knuffman officially started in this role on March 22.
Two UNC sophomores co-founded Ultraloop Technologies — a company that sells chemical-free sanitization devices to disinfect items. Aditya Bhatt and Mukesh Loganathan hope that their devices can be placed on campus to help facilitate the transition to on-campus instruction next semester. Currently, over 5,000 units of the technology are being used in India at schools, hotels and restaurants.
As of March 9, the CDC allows fully vaccinated individuals to meet indoors without masks or physical-distancing. Because of these new guidelines, the University is reexamining its COVID-19 Community Standards.
Lindsay Dubbs plans to continue networking with the C3E community, which will influence her work with the North Carolina Renewable Ocean Energy Program, she said. Additionally, the C3E Initiative will allow Dubbs to attend workshops on energy developments and update course material for her students.
