Promoting peace

All wars are pointless, said the keynote speaker of a Monday event honoring victims of war.The Orange County Peace Coalition, which offers programs to support peace, sponsored the seventh annual event and presented alternatives to fighting.

Local teens ‘speak out’ on pertinent issues

More than 100 local youth discussed issues ranging from sexuality to the environment Saturday as part of a new annual forum which aims to increase youth involvement with the school board.The Chapel Hill Youth Council, a group to help local high school students get involved in improving the community, hosted “Speak Up and Speak Out!” for youth to discuss issues prominent to them.
