In his new role, Lingo said he wants to work with students on maintaining a healthy relationship with journalism, starting with burnout and where it might stem from. Additionally, he is looking forward to continuing to hone in on advertising in his role, as well as coming up with new and non-traditional products for The DTH.
"Take it from me, a recent grad who is very sad to be leaving this little slice of light blue heaven — you will be OK. I know, I know, everyone has told you this. And while the first couple months might take some adjusting, I suggest that you find your home — a place where you can be your truest self."
UNC students received an email Friday afternoon from Student Affairs stating that they will reopen the Campus Y building on Monday, May 6, with revised hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
University officials, several campus groups, and eight Chapel Hill and Carrboro elected officials released statements regarding Tuesday's events on campus.
The lab partners with different programs throughout the community but has also gained national attention since Nabarun Dasgupta, a senior scientist at the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center, founded it in 2022. These programs may include but are not limited to syringe service programs, drug user unions, local health departments and opioid treatment providers.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Naloxone is a medicine that attempts to reverse an opioid, including fentanyl, overdose. There are a few different kinds of this medicine that are available to the public, such as Narcan, which is a prepackaged nasal spray.
Alex Carrasquillo, community safety public information officer for the Town of Chapel Hill, said that an estimated 5,000 people were on Franklin Street, a smaller number than usual because spring break began after classes on Friday.
On Jan. 20, Edwards, chair of the Carolina Union Board of Directors, filed a case in the Student Supreme Court against the UNC BOE after the board's acting chair Sophie van Duin informed Edwards that they would not be able to run for the position of graduate and professional student body president.
