Glen Lennox gets new $42 million investor

Residents of a Chapel Hill apartment complex might see renovations after a Washington, D.C.-based company announced a $42 million investment Tuesday. Federal Capital Partners is pairing with Grubb Properties, owner of the Glen Lennox apartment community off N.C. 54 since 1986. The project also includes Riverwoods Apartments in Raleigh.

In a bright studio Friday afternoon, home-schooled students squished, pinched and molded their own masterpieces.The children were taking Ceramics for Homeschoolers, a weekly class offered by the ArtsCenter in Carrboro as a result of continued demand for activities for home-schooled students.

OWASA forum draws crowd

More than 100 disgruntled residents crowded the Maple View Agricultural Center Tuesday night for a forum on the Orange Water and Sewer Authority’s proposal to thin or cut 1,900 acres of forestland. Despite OWASA’s assertions that the plan — which involves 17 of its properties — will improve water and tree quality, many residents were skeptical about the plan. “We’re here because these experts are telling us we need to take action,” said Patrick Davis, sustainability manager for OWASA.

Chapel Hill police officer patrols downtown on bicycle

When he aspired to work in criminal justice, officer Jason Bellavance never expected he would enforce the law on two wheels. Bellavance worked on regular patrol for about three years before applying for the downtown unit. The 29-year-old has been a self-proclaimed “bike cop” for about four years.
