Tech tips for the summer

Q: I won't be on-campus this summer. If I have a tech problem, can I still get help? A: Even though you're on vacation, we're not. The ITS Response Center is manned 24/7, and we are happy to help you with any technology problems year round. You can call us at 962-HELP or send us an e-mail at help@unc.edu. Our Web site, help.unc.edu, is another resource for troubleshooting. Q: I'm planning to backpack through Europe this summer. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep my laptop safe?

Students: Back that data up

How much is your computer and its data worth? Do you want the Lexus of data backups or will a VW Beetle work just as well for your individual needs? Whatever vehicle you choose, the most important thing to remember is that the odds are that your hard drive probably will fail sooner or later. Certainly the Lexus of backups is the automated full data backup.
