The UNC Asian American Center's second cohort of fellows — Theodore Gonzalves, Samah Choudhury and Sean Metzger — are bringing more opportunities for students to learn about Asian American communities, culture and history through new in-person fellowship visits.
UNC's Lab of the Future was fully operational for its first semester in the fall. Located in Morehead Laboratories, the space was designed to promote teamwork and advance research.
UNC’s Food, Fitness and Opportunity Research Collaborative is working with underserved communities in Orange County through a project called Communities on the Move. “A lot of the research we do is not us coming in and doing studies that we are interested in,” FFORC Community Outreach Field Coordinator and Orange County resident Judit Alvarado said. “It is more about learning what communities need. We focus on trying to find ways to align our research with our communities’ needs and desires.”
New on campus this fall, Ultraloop devices use high-frequency ultraviolet light to sanitize everyday objects.
Faculty Council approved the IDEAS in Action curriculum in spring 2019, and the University plans to launch it in fall 2022. “We are moving away from this concept of checking off boxes and fulfilling requirements,” Nick Siedentop, curriculum director in the Office of Undergraduate Curricula, said.
Members of the UNC community gathered together over Zoom Thursday for "The UNC Latina/o Studies Program – Past, Present, and Future," an event presented by 225 Carolina. The event reflected on the past 22 years of success and growth of the Latina/o studies program at UNC, from a speaker series to a minor.
