Group plays homeless for a day
By Samantha Levy | April 24You can't judge a man without walking in his shoes - or in some cases, sleeping in them. That was the goal of 40 students who participated in the annual Sleepout for the Homeless co-sponsored by UNC's chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity Inc. and, for the first year, the Advocates for Human Rights committee of the Campus Y. Sleeping outside in tents on the Hinton James Residence Hall basketball court, students aimed to raise awareness and funds to alleviate homelessness in the Chapel Hill area. Donations went to the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service in Carrboro.
