Students Needed at Ballot Box
By SANDI CHAPMAN | October 2A few weeks ago, an older woman told me she thought young people were dumb and did not deserve the right to make decisions in our society. We have all heard politicians, teachers and parents tell us that young people are apathetic, which is why we do not vote. It is true that young people ages 18 to 24 vote less than almost any other constituency in the United States today. The real question is WHY? Recent polls show that young people have consciously disengaged from the political process.
