Board to review lingering law

Carrboro's anti-lingering ordinance passed last year despite criticism that it unfairly targeted Hispanics has succeeded in eliminating problems at a day labor pickup site town officials say. The ordinance will be reviewed today by the Carrboro Board of Aldermen in accordance with a requirement that it be looked at after one year.

Local schools cutting spending

As the economic downturn continues Orange County's school districts are limiting spending to prepare for potential budget cuts. Although other state agencies have faced state-mandated budget cuts of about 3 percent public K-12 education has so far been exempted.

Trendy Room replaces old fave

Don't expect the legacy of Hector's one of Chapel Hill's most iconic eateries to overshadow its successor's.  The Recovery Room is coming to Franklin Street. The new restaurant scheduled to open next week will function as a cafe in the morning offering local coffee from Carrboro Coffee Company then serve lunch and dinner later in the day.
