On Monday, Jan. 20, the Chapel Hill community gathered at a ceremony organized by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Council heard a presentation from developers on a potential residential and retail project at 200 S. Elliott Rd. Also, architect Dan Jewell presented a concept plan for a proposed development at 1609 U.S. 15-501.
With the goal to make the diverse history of Chapel Hill more accessible, the Chapel Hill Historical Society and Downtown Chapel Hill Partnership recently integrated QR codes at local establishments to launch a virtual, self-guided tour of the town's history.
“Carrboro is an incredibly progressive, innovative town that cares deeply about sustainability, about race, equity,” Amy Armbruster, Carrboro's chief sustainability officer said. “Working not only in my own community, but in this community that cares so much about these issues — I couldn't pass it up.”
