School System Solves Bus Shortage
By Vida Awumey and Aishia Ladean Crayton | September 20Officials say enrollment growth and financial constraints caused Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools buses to become overcrowded, forcing the system to obtain a bus from another county. Local school officials say the significant increase in the number of students is the main cause for this problem. "The problem has been aggravated by an increased enrollment of 350 new students," said Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools spokeswoman Kim Hoke. Mary Lin Truelove, the schools' director of transportation, said financial troubles also contributed to the overcrowded buses.
