Three Republicans narrowly win seats on N.C. Court of Appeals

Walker Livingston is the 2024 enterprise managing editor at The Daily Tar Heel. She has previously served as summer city & state editor and assistant city & state editor. Walker is a sophomore pursuing a double major in journalism and media and American studies, with a minor in data science.
Tom Murry, Valerie Zachary and Chris Freeman won seats to the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
The citizens-only constitutional amendment passed with 75.57 percent of the vote with 37 percent of North Carolina's precincts reporting.
Cristobal Palmer has won the special election for Carrboro Town Council by 78 percent as of 8:30 p.m. His opponent, Isaac Woolsey earned 20 percent of the vote.
Her platform champions funding for public education, signing a Green New Deal into law and is a cosponsor of the Medicare for All act.
While the state of North Carolina has set a record of voting in Democratic governors, its propensity for voting red in Federal elections makes it a crucial swing state for the presidential election in 2024.
